STRATEGY
...........................................................................................................................
Our first commitment is to improve available primary health care in villages.
Away from the glitter and élan of India’s prospering urban spaces, several million in the rural hinterland continue to bear the burden of preventable and curable illnesses, with serious physical, economic and social consequences. We think that it is ironic, and lamentable, that at a time when state of the art Corporate Hospitals have made India a leading hub of global medical tourism, the vast majority of her population has no access to basic and primary healthcare. These voiceless millions are our constituency and our market.
Mission
To bring about lasting improvements in the health status of rural and poor communities by improving the quality of primary health care that is available to them; and to achieve this by setting up a sustainable social enterprise with private rural healthcare providers who deliver primary health care in rural areas.
Vision
First Care is directed towards training, supervising, equipping, and supporting Rural Health Providers (RHPs) to deliver simple primary health interventions. First Care interventions seek to improve providers’ knowledge and skills; develop patient health record systems for patient follow up and for reviewing provider progress; promote a holistic approach to patient care; develop strategies for standardization and quality assurance of health services; supply providers with low cost commodities, public health products, equipment, and audio-visual health education material; and develop simple diagnostic services. All this will be enabled through use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance scalability of the interventions.
